Report: lezeressen Milou en Renée bij de MTV EMA's!

Twee weken geleden mocht Girlscene twee meiden in het zonnetje zetten door hen op een geheel verzorgde citytrip te sturen naar Belfast (Ierland), om daar live de MTV EMA’s bij te wonen. Milou en Renée waren de gelukkigen en hebben speciaal voor Girlscene het avontuur op 'papier' gezet!

Het was 31 oktober en Milou werd gebeld door Marjolein, hoofdredacteur van Girlscene! Ze was ontzettend verrast toen Marjolein het nieuws vertelde, dat zij de reis naar Belfast had gewonnen! Compleet in shock belde Milou mij (Renee) op met het te gekke nieuws. We konden het niet geloven! De dagen vlogen voorbij en voor we het wisten waren we onze paspoorten aan het inscannen en stonden we samen te popelen op Schiphol.

Eenmaal bij de incheckbalie aangekomen, werden we ontvangen door iemand van MTV. Zij vertelde nonchalant tussen neus en lippen door dat we met een privé vliegtuig gingen vliegen… Excuse us?! Kun je dat herhalen? Het was heus. We zaten in een vliegtuig dat speciaal was afgehuurd voor de crew van MTV en wij, de winnaressen van Girlscene. Na 1,5 uur landden we in het prachtige groene Ierland. Met een pendelbus kwamen we een half uurtje laten aan in het centrum van Belfast. Brrr, het was wel een stuk kouder, maar dat mocht de pret niet drukken. We konden ervoor kiezen om óf een taxi naar het hotel te pakken óf om 20 minuten te lopen naar ons hotel. We kozen voor het laatste, zodat we meteen wat van de stad konden zien en de omgeving rondom ons hotel konden verkennen.

Toen we aankwamen bij ons hotel, checkten we in en hebben we ons even kunnen opfrissen in onze mooie hotelkamer. Na een uurtje relaxen zijn we de stad weer ingegaan. Wat een aardig en vriendelijke mensen, de Ieren! Men was geïnteresseerd waarvoor wij in Belfast waren, en werden enthousiast toen we vertelden dat we voor de EMA’s in town waren. De kaarten voor het grote muziekevent zijn namelijk niet te koop voor de Ieren, je kunt alleen worden uitgenodigd. Het was voor Ierland in ieder geval een grote eer (men was trots) dat de MTV EMA’s dit jaar in Belfast werden gehouden! And we were so lucky to be there…

Tijd om te shoppen! We kwamen allerlei leuke winkels tegen en liepen onderweg ook nog langs City Hall (het stadshuis), waar o.a. artiesten als Jason Derulo en Snow Patrol aan het soundchecken waren!

Toen de avond viel zijn we een restaurantje ingedoken waar het lekker warm was en we heerlijk eten kregen voorgeschoteld. Een paar wijntjes later waren we heel erg moe van de reis en de lange dag en besloten we terug te gaan naar het hotel. Per taxi, want de prijzen vallen erg mee in Belfast!

De wekker stond op 10:30 uur, maar de volgende morgen was ik (Renee) al om 07:30 uur wakker. De dag van de EMA’s! Gauw onder de warme douche om met Milou beneden aan te schuiven voor het ontbijt. Witte bonen, worstjes, scrambled eggs… Gelukkig waren er ook croissantjes en chocoladebroodjes! Na het ontbijt gingen we weer gauw de stad in, voorbij het centrum richting de haven van Belfast. Prachtig uitzicht. En vanuit daar zag je ook de Odyssee Arena, waar ’s avonds de EMA’s ging plaatsvinden. Ondertussen zagen we op Twitter berichtjes van sterren voorbijkomen, die aan het repeteren waren… zo’n 500 meten van ons zitbankje aan de haven verwijderd!

Onderweg aten we nog een pizza en kwamen we nog een leuke winkel tegen: The Pound Store. Alles, maar dan ook écht alles, kostte één pound. Het was duidelijk: the place om souvenirs te shoppen! En nepwimpers, onze final touch up voor een spetterende avond bij de EMA’s. Gauw optutten in het hotel en dan de taxi in richting de European Music Awards in de Odyssee Arena!

Eenmaal aangekomen in de Arena zag het er supermooi en groot uit! De rij leek huge maar viel uiteindelijk mee en omdat het nog niet heel druk was zijn we snel naar voren gelopen. Front row, zodat we konden meegenieten van elk optreden! Tijdens het aftellen (we gingen bijna live!) konden we allebei nog steeds niet geloven dat we hier stonden. In Belfast, Ierland! Bij de EMA’s, wie kan dat nou zeggen? De openingsact van Coldplay was geweldig en Selena Gomez is ook heel mooi in het echt. Na te gekke optredens van Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga en Jessie J was het einde van de show in zicht. Nog een keer helemaal uit ons dak met het optreden van Queen en Adam Lambert! Daarna was de MTV EMA’s ‘11 officieel afgelopen.

Die avond hebben we heerlijk geslapen! We waren moe maar voldaan. De volgende morgen hebben we met moeite (we willen nog niet gaan!) een taxi besteld. We wilden niet te laat komen voor onze vlucht terug. Toen we onze zitplaatsen innamen in het privé vliegtuig van MTV, liep Ben Saunders het vliegtuig binnen! Hij was heel grappig en maakte zelfs nog even een praatje.

Even later landden we weer in Amsterdam, op Schiphol. Wat een supervet weekend! Dit zullen we echt nooit vergeten!
